About the Event

Calling all recent first-generation BIPOC 2020 college graduates wanting to work with a career coach!

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a difficult year.  For many of you - if not all - you did not get to experience the walk across the stage and be handed your diploma.  You may not have been able to take full advantage of your campus career center, guidance counselors, or on-site career fairs due to campus-wide closures.  And, yet the expectation and need to secure employment is still there.

As a result, the Flourish Collective, a nonprofit committed to supporting BIPOC organizations and learning about social justice, is offering full scholarships for 6 first-generation BIPOC college graduates (valued at $1997) to participate in and work with career coach, Yanira Guzmán, The Career Gem, Own Your Expertise (OYE) Career Preparation Program: College Edition!

All you need to do is apply by Friday, December 18th, 2020 for your chance to participate in the program!  Apply today!

What is Own Your Expertise (OYE) Career Preparation Program: College Edition?

A 6-week career preparation program, OYE is designed for a small cohort of professionals - at all levels - to acquire the skills needed to be successful in their career.  Each week will focus on a different topic.  The topics are:

  • Positive Mindset - Get Your Head in the Game
  • LinkedIn 101A - Creating an Engaging Profile
  • LinkedIn 101B - Developing and Implementing a Posting Strategy
  • Targeted Job Search - Know Where You’re Going
  • Resume Revamps - Shine on Paper
  • Interview Tips - Telling Your Story

How are classes delivered?

The entire program is a virtual hybrid model.  Class content will be made available online (to be done during one’s own time), whereas weekly small group meetings with the coach, Yanira Guzmăn will be held live virtually.

What is the time commitment?

This is a 6-week program beginning on January 4, 2021.  The expectation is that participants review the week’s content on their own, implement the coaching, and meet with the small group on Saturday mornings at 8 AM PT.

When are the virtual LIVE classes with Yanira Guzmán, The Career Gem?

The cohort will meet on Saturday mornings at 8 AM PT on the following Saturdays:

  • Saturday, January 9, 2021
  • Saturday, January 16, 2021
  • Saturday, January 23, 2021
  • Saturday, January 30, 2021
  • Saturday, February 6, 2021
  • Saturday, February 13, 2021
